Phuket Island has long been in the news for the difficulty sometimes to find viable public transport. Indeed, it took a number of years to implement a bus services along the west coast to the airport. The good news for tourists and locals is the new minibus service between Phuket Town and Patong.
Launched by the Phuket Transportation Office today from Sept 1st, the new route is now in operation. The route will be serviced by mini-vans and overseen by the Transport Office. The main idea of the new route is to provide better links for tourists and local between its 2 biggest areas.
Theerayut Prasertphol, Head of the Phuket Transportation Office, recently stated that “Right now we have six vans in service. The new route will cover about 18kms starting from Phuket Bus Terminal 1 (Phang Nga Rd) and ending at Patong beach opposite the Merlin Hotel (Thaweewong Rd). It will pass many of the main roads in Phuket Town including Surin Rd and Yaowarat Rd, and also Governor House, Vachira and Bangkok hospitals and the island’s main shopping malls. This service will bring more comfort with less cost to passengers.”
The service will run from the Phuket Bus Terminal 1 from 7am to 6pm every day with prices at 30THB and 50THB depending on where you get on and off.
